In accordance with the application instructions from the Florida Department of Education, the Belafonte TACOLCY Center, Inc. submits a public notice to the community of Miami-Dade County (Liberty City) of our intent to submit an application for a Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) After School Programs grant, in partnership with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools, for eligible students of Holmes Elementary School to be served in the aforementioned areas. The purpose of the 21st CCLC Program, as described in federal statute, is to provide opportunities for eligible communities that focus on:

  1. Creation of community learning centers that provide high-yield academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low performing schools.

  2. Helping students meet state student standards in core academic subjects, such as English language arts (ELA) and mathematics; offers students a broad array of high yield enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.
